HYAA offers recreational, in-town field hockey in the fall for girls in K-8th grade.

The Hanover Girls Field Hockey program is organized into 3 age divisions (based on grade level girls are entering in the fall):  K-2nd grade, 3rd-5th grade, and 6th-8th grade.  Please see below for each division’s overview.  All skills sessions and practices for the fall league will be held at Myrtle Street Field.  


Equipment and Schedules

Sticks and shin guards are mandatory for each player and will be provided by parents.  Mouth guards are highly recommended for grades 3 and up.  The program will provide balls and other essential equipment.  

Girls Field Hockey begins in September and will run through the end of October.

As an added benefit to the program, there will be free skills sessions in the summer to get extra practice and for girls to develop their abilities.  

Session Schedule 

K-2—8:30-9:15 Saturday
3-5- 9:30-10:45 Saturday
6-8- 11:00-12:15 Saturday
Grades 3-5 and 6-8 will also have practices on Tuesday or Thursdays. Schedule TBA 
Additional games may be added depending on other towns we may be able to play. 


HYAA will provide a Hanover Girls Field Hockey shirt to players in grades K-2, a Hanover girls Field Hockey shirt and shorts to players in grades 3-5 and a Hanover Girls Field Hockey shirt and kilt to girls in grades 6-8.  

Cleats are recommended, but sneakers are acceptable as well.

All divisions will be focuses on learning the game of field hockey and developing skills through practices and intramural (in-town only) games. 


Girls K-Grade 2 Division

This division is for girls entering K-2 in the fall.  At this age level, girls are developing the fundamentals of the game including stick handling and hand/eye coordination.  Your athlete will have a great time while learning how to safely enjoy field hockey through drills and scrimmages.  There will be 1 practice per week at this age level held on Saturday mornings.  


Girls 3rd-5th Grade Division

This division is for girls entering grades 3, 4 and 5 in the fall.  Girls in the 3rd-5th Grade Division will typically have 2 practices per week, one on Saturday mornings and the other on alternating Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Our main focus will be on teaching the rules and regulations of the game in a fun and engaging manner and there will be intramural scrimmages.  


Girls 6th-8th Grade Division

This division is for girls entering grades 6-8 in the fall.  Girls in the 6th-8th Grade Division will typically have 2 practices per week, one on Saturday mornings and the other on alternating Tuesdays and Thursdays.  We will be introducing strategies of the game at this level, and focusing on the importance of being part of a team.  At this time, we do not offer games against other towns, but will hold intramural scrimmages, and possibly scrimmages against other towns.

  • Registration is open at base rates for 2 weeks, and 1 week with additional $35 late fee beginnig 6/24
  • Registration closes on 6/30 Please be aware that we cannot accept ANY registrations after this date.  No exceptions.
  • Registration Fees as follows:
    • Grades K-2 - $85
    • Grades 3-5 - $100
    • Grades 6-8 - $125
